Cameron Diaz Short Biography

IMDB provides a Cameron Diaz mini biography. Born in 1972, in San Diego, CA, she is the daughter of an Anglo-German mother and Cuban-American father. She began working as a model at age 21. Her acting career began in her first movie appearance, The Mask, in 1994. Her full superstar status, according to IMDB, was in 1998 when she starred in the movie, There’s Something About Mary. Cameron’s superstar status helps spread the renewable energy message through her work with environmental issues. Her clean energy lifestyle is detailed in a Huffington Post article, dated April 9, 2008, by Marianne Schnall, titled Talking Green with Cameron Diaz. In the article Cameron Diaz describes her work with Al Gore, and reveals personal information about her home lifestyle.

Al Gore Global Warming Solutions Support

Marianne Schnall’s Huffington Post article is a duplication of the interview she had with Cameron Diaz, in 2008. During the interview Cameron Diaz says that, in 2007, she took and successfully completed Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth slide show course, designed to teach volunteers how to present the show to audiences. The slide show describes how fossil fuel energy contributes to effects of global warming creating our climate crisis, and advocates clean energy solutions. Also, she worked with Al Gore, in 2007, to promote his Climate Project.

Current Environmental Issues

In Marianne Schnall’s interview with Cameron Diaz she asks about Cameron’s environmental issues and lifestyle. One of Cameron’s environmental issues is about the importance of recycling. She states, “I’m recycling. I’m recycling old scripts. Yeah, I recycle everything...” She also talked about how driving her Prius was just one of the solutions to help stop global warming. She also revealed that she uses energy efficient appliances, uses only necessary lighting, and tries to reuse everything.

Not everyone is supportive of celebrity environmental activism. The Progressive Patriots.com website published on their site an author anonymous article dated January 28, 2008, titled How Does Celebrity Global Travel Help the Environment? The article states, “Cameron Diaz...acts globally...travels to getaways...from Chile to Yellowstone...to safeguard the environment...how is getting on an airplane and flying around the world a quest to safeguard the environment?”

The Cameron Diaz environmental issues revolve around home life with respect to energy conversation and use of renewable energy whenever possible. Her celebrity status helps her environmental messages reach a large fan base. Her work with Al Gore to support 100% clean energy in 10 years is ongoing.
